Awareness • Training • Threat Assessment • Preparedness
Learn to move through the world with calm confidence.
Staying Safe teaches practical self-defense, situational awareness, personal safety, threat assessment, and preparation through realistic training built around prevention, judgment, and decisive action.
The Staying Safe Method
See earlier.
Recognize context, behavior, distance, exits, and warning signs before a situation controls you.
Decide faster.
Reduce hesitation with simple principles, repeatable decision points, and realistic preparation.
Act with purpose.
Train responses that fit the real world: verbal boundaries, movement, escape, and defense when necessary.
The point is not fear. The point is capability: more awareness, more options, and better decisions under pressure.
Born from service
Built to help people stay safer in the real world.
Staying Safe began as a resource connected to Chris Pendas’s volunteer work with women’s shelters. The original purpose was practical: provide clear, useful, respectful safety information to people who needed it.
Over time, that work grew into a broader platform for personal protection, self-defense training, threat assessment, regional travel safety support, professional security assessments, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and seminars for individuals, academies, businesses, and organizations.
The mission remains the same: help people recognize danger earlier, make better decisions, and build the skills to respond when avoidance is no longer enough.

For individuals, families, groups, and organizations
Most people do not want to fight. They want to get home.
Staying Safe is built around the reality that most people want better options. They want to protect themselves and the people they care about. They want to recognize danger earlier, avoid what can be avoided, and respond clearly when avoidance is no longer possible.
That is the work: awareness, preparation, boundaries, movement, practical defense, and understanding what happens before, during, and after danger.
